Posted - March 26 2012 : 22:52:48 There's a very long thread on the Paragon forums about Microsoft changing the licensing terms and therefore Paragon will no longer offer a pre-built WinPE image.
The conversation continues to say that this change affects all disk imaging software manufacturers and not just Paragon. So my question is will this affect Macrium's offering as well? Have you heard anything about this?
Thanks!

Posted - July 20 2012 : 11:21:18 I have just upgraded from Version 4 to Version 5 (Standard) and when I try to create a rescue disk I get an error saying "No CD Image is available". I previously had no problem with version 4
I am trying the WAIK but it appears that my installation of v 5 did not contain the WinPE environment even though I am an existing user.
What do I need to do about this or will the WAIK sort it out for me?

Thanks for your post.
Existing users will not be affected as they already have a licensed copy of Windows PE. This is embedded in the license key. New customers after October 2012 will only have the option for the WAIK Windows PE rescue media.
Kind regards

Posted - July 20 2012 : 02:50:14 We're getting close to the 6 months now. Do you have any details to share how this is going to work going forward? I assume we will have a mandatory update that will change things a bit.
Thanks

Posted - March 27 2012 : 14:41:06 Thanks Nick. I decided to try the custom WinPE feature and it worked flawlessly. As long as this ability is still available, I'm happy. It's a big download, but I can live with it.

Thanks for your post.
This is correct. Unfortunately, MS has pulled the plug on Windows PE licensing globally. Our license with MS expires in 6 months time and after that we will no-longer be able to distribute a pre-built WIM.
The Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) will still be available for download and we will integrate the WAIK installation and WIM creation more tightly within Macrium Reflect.
