Windows 7 64-bit Raid 0;
Just restored an image from a backup and when it asked about replacing the MBR I ticked "Replace with masterboot record from the backup" I'm a little concerned because of the hidden active partition that Windows installed, is this the correct thing to do?

The image appears to have restored okay but Windows did throw up a very quick error message. I again rebooted and everything is running okay. What is the correct action to take when restoring in regards the MBR?

Plus it's there in case you do need it.

That partition contains the Windows Recovery Environment that is needed to do system restore etc, so if a virus decides to eat it, then you can't use a system restore in case you decide to use that solution etc. and could cause some other related issues inside windows itself, some say it affects drive rollbacks as well but that is debatable. Mine currently is only using 24Mb of space which when compressed probably only accounts for about 1-3Mb of backup space.

So I would say yes, go ahead and back it up too, in the same image as your O/S drive, because after all you pick which partitions to restore when you run it, and it's not that big. Hope this helps ya!

I have no way of updating or adding drivers to the boot disk do I? My main drive with Windows 7 on it isn't on a raid array, and has the same issues. Is there anyways to add chip set drivers to the PE boot disk to help eliminate driver compatibility issues? Because if this boot disk doesn't work I have bought a program I can't use because backups are only good if you can use them.

The backup inside Windows 7 finally ran correctly last night, I had to shut down all the media center services that where running to make it work correctly. Seem even though everything is on separate drives they are using the same I/O space and causing Reflect to bug out. The last restore worked perfectly while Windows 7 was running. Now if I can just get this boot disk issue resolved.

What raids are known to be successful with this imaging/restore application? I may need to simply buy a better, more capable raid solution. Thanks for the help!
