Upon attempting either an image or an incremental back up, I quite often get the 0x01 error. Can anyone advise me on the reason?

Hi Dan

Do you have a log file? (click the 'Log' tab)
If so, is there a more detailed error message there?

The possible exit codes for a scheduled task are:

0x00 - Normal exit.
0x01 - User cancelled or other error during image creation. See log.
0x02 - XML Validation error. The image did not start

Kind Regards

Thanks for the response. AHA, I hadn't noticed the log file. I find several errors detailed there on previous backups, the latest being:

Backup aborted! - Write operation failed - The handle is invalid.

Can you advise what a 'handle' is?

This error is usually thrown because there are insufficient permissions to write the destination directory. Is the target of the backup a network share? Make sure you have granted full access to this share.

Kind Regards

No,I'm writing to an external Simplex hard drive connected through the USB port. My last image was successfully created, FYI.

Any other possibilities I should worry about?

I appreciate your help!

Did the error occur midway through a backup? If so it sounds as if communication with your drive may have failed. Look in your Windows Event log for failure messages around the time of the error.

How often do you receive this error? Can you replicate the problem by running a manual backup?

As all worked fine on my last image back-up, I'll just got ahead and watch it from now on. It was no doubt 'operator error' and now that I know about it, I'll keep an eye out.

I do appreciate your very prompt and courteous responses, Nick, not to mention what appears to be a fine product.
