I ran CHKDSK on an external USB drive.
I let it "fix" bad clusters (by blocking them from use).
I cloned this drive to a new USB external drive.
The new drive now has a smaller size listed than an identical drive.

My question is did the destination drive inherit the blocked clusters from the source drive?
Is that why the capacity is lower than specification?

Hi

To un-flag bad sectors on a restored drive run 'chkdsk C: /b'

See here:

If your target drive hasn't been extended to fill the space on the new disk you can do this in the Windows Disk Management Console UI:
