I am trying to recover from a raid. Win pe does not see my drive. It is a 3.6tb partition and i have tried loading the 64 bit drivers intel ichr9 using drivload msdos but after the driver loads it says i have to reboot which nulls the load. Any suggestions?

Hi

Sorry you are having problems. Your IHCR9 RAID volume should be detected without adding any RAID drivers, however, a 3.6TB partition must have been created with your RAID volume initialized as GPT (as the limit for MBR is 2TB). Windows will not boot from a GPT disk/RAID volume.

Can you tell us a bit more about your setup, is this a boot volume?

Also, from the Windows PE command prompt can you type:

DiskPart
List disk
exit

Is your RAID volume shown? If it is shown, then can you delete the 3.6TB partition and restore to the empty disk.

Kind Regards

I performed the steps you asked and it shows only the prymary system drive. Disk 0 932 GB and Disk 1 18 MB. What I am trying to restore from is a raid array on this machine. I have 6 tb drives 1 used for system other 5 raid 5 array. I have backeup the system image to this array. I tried the cd restore with no luck reconizing the array I just tried the Diskrestore option with unattended restore same result it could not identify the raid array or find the disk image to restore. Thanks for the speedy reply

Hi

Thanks for that information.

Have you tried adding the RAID drivers to the Windows PE build as described here: http://www.macrium.com/webhelp/Adding_Drivers.asp?nohead=y

Please note: You must use Vista/Server 2008 (not R2) drivers.

Kind Regards

Hi David

The help example shows extracting a Network driver. RAID drivers are always supplied as separate .inf and .sys files, usually zipped. Please check your motherboard manufacturers web site for the Vista/Server 2008 RAID controller driver download for your motherboard.

Hope this helps

I have tried all kinds of driver's xp 32 xp 64 2008 64 2003 32 2003 64 all have failed to reconize my drive. They seem to be loading correctly but still are not working. I was able to finaly get the correct driver for the network card. Is there somewhere eles i need to be putting the .sys file seperate from the .inf file. Thanks for the speed replys and help. Thanks David

The driver must match the architecture (32 or 64 bit) of your Windows Installation/Windows PE and must be Vista/Server 2008. If you have incorrect drivers in '\macrium\boot\' then this may cause problems.

I've sent you a PM.

Kind Regards
